20 Years of The Gifted Program

Seattle's The Divorce Celebrates 20 Years of Seminal Album 'The Gifted Program' with Special Anniversary Show

SEATTLE, WA – June 17, 2025 – Seattle indie-rock stalwarts, The Divorce, are proud to announce the 20th anniversary of their acclaimed album, The Gifted Program, originally released by Made in Mexico on CD in 2005 (and subsequently reissued on LP by Latent Print Records in 2022) This milestone marks two decades since the album captivated audiences with its unique blend of heartfelt lyrics, dynamic instrumentation, and raw emotional power.

The Gifted Program quickly established itself as a cornerstone of the Pacific Northwest music scene, resonating deeply with fans and critics alike. Known for its intricate melodies, thoughtful songwriting, and powerful vocal performances, the album cemented The Divorce's reputation as a band unafraid to explore complex themes through their distinctive sound. Its release was met with widespread praise, lauded for its honesty and musical craftsmanship, and it remains a beloved entry in the discographies of many indie-rock enthusiasts.

The Divorce, comprised of members Shane Berry (vocals, keyboard, guitar, tambourine), Jimmy Curran (bass), Garrett Lunceford (lead guitar), and Kyle Risan (drums), emerged from Seattle's vibrant early 2000s music landscape, carving out a niche with their energetic live shows and introspective studio recordings. The Gifted Program showcased the band's maturation, combining the urgency of their earlier work with a newfound depth and sophistication.

"Looking back at The Gifted Program 20 years later, it's a powerful reminder of the passion and dedication we poured into that record," reflects Shane Berry, vocalist and guitarist for The Divorce. "It captured a specific moment in our lives and in Seattle's music history, and we're incredibly grateful that it still connects with people after all this time. The enduring support from our fans has been truly humbling."

To commemorate this special anniversary, The Divorce will host a celebratory release show at The Sunset in Ballard on Friday, September 5th. This momentous evening will feature performances by The Divorce, a reunited Severna Park, and Kalichrome, which features Chris Brady from Pond. It promises to be an unforgettable night of music and nostalgia for long-time fans and a new generation of listeners.

As The Gifted Program reaches this significant anniversary, The Divorce invites both long-time listeners and new fans to revisit an album that continues to exemplify the band's artistic integrity and lasting legacy. The album is available on all major streaming platforms.
